Dili. The President of the National Parliament (NP) and President of the Democratic Party (PD), Fernando de Araujo Lasama said that "if a candidate presidential elections in 2012 because it has experience of the performance of duties of state." The statement was made before the people of Sub-District Liquedoe, Aileu District, last Saturday (07/23/2011) during a meeting with the population.
"I have experience of tenure of Interim President of the Republic (PRI) during a difficult period, when the state of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste has suffered a huge blow, with the occurrence of double attacks against the President, Dr. Jose Ramos Horta, and ambush the Prime Minister, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao on February 11, 2008, " added Lasama.
In the performance of the PRI, according to mandate of the Constitution RDTL, which ordered the joint operation between the two forces, Defense (F-FDTL) and Security (PNTL) to restore law and order, thus avoiding that East Timor was considered a failed state.
Lasama also stressed, "in the exercise of the functions of President of the NP have experience of dealing with parliamentarians from various political tendencies, which was not easy, keeping the functionality of state institutions, in accordance with the Constitution and regulated by the bylaws of the National Parliament .
The candidacy of Fernando de Araujo Lasama, at a time when concerns arise (before time) of the so-called 'older generations' as Jose Ramos Horta, Mari Alkatiri, Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao, among others, can make the transfer of power to the new generations. This was discussed in the meetings Maubisse I last year and Maubisse II on July 26, 2011, organized by the Catholic Church and sponsored by the Office of the Prime Minister. The central theme of discussion was the issue of transfer of power from the old generation to the next generation.
Lasama ,The figure represents the new generation has a broad curriculum and became involved in the liberation struggle, as one of the founders of the Students' National Resistance of Timor-Leste (RENETIL) and was arrested at the hands of the regime in the 90 Soharto of the last century. This organization, founded and led by Lasama de Araujo, played an important role in the liberation struggle of East Timor, given the strategies adopted in processing over a battle field to Indonesia, through the adoption of two important strategies - the Indonesiation and internationalization the question of East Timor!
