The success of the government's reform of the defense and security
Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão received praise from the UN because of its leadership in the IV Constitutional Government, which contributed to the success of reforms in the sectors of defense and security in Timor-Leste.
"Peace and calm in Timor-Leste did not fall from heaven, but are thoughts and ideas of everyone who has the same commitment it takes to forward the reform process successfully," said a representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Timor-Leste, Ameera Haq, recently at Government Palace, after meeting with Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão”.
Ameera Haq also added that the UN praised the IV Constitutional Government, led by PM Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão, be able to make and continue the reform in the Defense and Security, the last two years.
Ameera Haq, said that the reform achieved in the defense and security, has helped to restore credibility to their forces. Looking to change the mentality, distinction will be the two institutions influence party politics. With these changes, the government transformed the two state institutions to perform their functions and missions, ensure the national security of all citizens and the protection of national sovereignty in the face of external threats.
Also focuses on professionalism, by adopting the laws, for second careers, promotion schemes and arrangements to pay the forces of defense and security.
Its materialization through promotion to patents Generals (Major General and Brigadier General), promotions for four colonels and the appointment of Deputy Commander of CHODs (Chief General Staff of Armed Forces), by the F-FDTL. Are underway to promote the testing of agents and officers, by PNTL!
